I have experience in project authorization and development, as well as in technical, financial, environmental and social assessment of investments. As a senior advisor of the Green Banking Division of Piraeus Bank in Greece for thirteen years, I have assessed hundreds of green investments including over 600 MW of photovoltaic (PV) power plants. I have played a pivotal role in drafting renewable energy legislation in Greece (serving as the Policy Advisor of the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies), and I helped in bringing Greece to the second ranking worldwide with regard to the share of PV in overall electricity demand.
538.4 MW of renewables capacity was awarded in the recent Greek tender and the country will continue to hold tenders throughout 2023. Whilst lower than the 1 GW of renewables targeted by the country’s regulator, RAE, the figure represents 372 MW of solar PV at an average price of Euros 47.98/MWh. This panel will investigate this tender, as well as upcoming auctions and the proposed Euros 340 million grid-scale storage plan which should represent 900 MW or storage capacity.
