Senior Banker, Energy Europe, Sustainable Infrastructure Group European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Ahmad El Mokadem is a Senior Banker within EBRD’s Sustainable Infrastructure Group, responsible for managing the EBRD’s energy investments and policy initiatives in various countries in Europe.

Ahmad has 10 years of experience in managing and executing energy investments in emerging markets and transition economies. Since joining the EBRD in 2013, Ahmad has led numerous sustainable energy transactions in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, involving project financing, green and sustainable bonds, as well as private and public equity transactions. In addition, Ahmad has been working extensively with governments on designing energy sector policy reforms (e.g. developing regulatory frameworks, renewable auctions, privatizations, etc.) to help countries transition to a low carbon economy.

Prior to working at the EBRD, Ahmad worked for Deloitte Transaction Advisory and Lafarge Cement in Egypt, with experience including mergers and acquisitions advisory across several industries. Ahmad has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Ain Shams University in Cairo and is a CFA Charter holder since 2016. He speaks fluent English and Arabic.
