
Catalin Breaban
Catalin is a seasoned entrepreneur and investor with over a decade of dedicated experience in the renewable energy sector. In 2021, he co-founded Aukera, a European Independent Power Producer (IPP) that he has successfully scaled across four countries in Europe. Under his leadership, Aukera is developing a portfolio of 15 GW in renewable energy and storage projects through both organic growth and strategic M&A/partnerships. Aukera’s core markets include Germany, the UK, Italy, and Romania.
Prior to Aukera, Catalin served as a Managing Director at The Carlyle Group, where he spearheaded the development of the European renewables team and helped raise capital for a dedicated investment vehicle. Catalin’s entrepreneurial journey in renewables began in 2012 when he founded Bluemerang Capital Limited, a UK-based renewable platform. He grew Bluemerang organically and via partnerships into a $240 million business.
Catalin holds an MBA degree from Insead. He is based in London, is married, and has two daughters.
