David McGowan

Dave McGowan is the Head of Power System Insights and Research at SONI. He has over 20 years of experience in the electricity industry and academia.

Dave’s function is responsible for energy economics within SONI and leads on the long-term power system planning studies for the TSO at a local and at a European level. He is a member of the System Development Committee within the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSOE). He also co-ordinates SONI’s innovation and research strategy including engagement with academia and industry.

Before joining SONI, Dave worked as a research fellow in the Electric Power and Intelligent Control Centre at Queen’s University Belfast from which he holds a PhD in Engineering.
