John Behan

John Behan is Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE), a leading investor, owner and operator of on-site renewable energy assets across the UK and Europe.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the power and sustainable infrastructure sector, John has worked across utilities, investment banking and infrastructure funds, giving him a deep understanding of how capital, policy and delivery intersect to accelerate the energy transition.

Prior to founding ADE, John led investment activities at Sustainable Development Capital LLP and, in 2015, launched Centrica’s Distributed Energy and Power business, helping to scale on-site energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers. 

Today, he leads ADE’s mission to make distributed energy a strategic asset for organisations, delivering affordable, reliable and renewable power through long-term, partnership-led models.
