Liam Smith

Liam Smith is a Director at Actis, based in London, where he plays a pivotal role in the Energy & Infrastructure Operations team, having joined Actis in 2015. With extensive experience in due diligence and asset management, Liam has successfully played leading roles in significant investments, including both current and previous Actis portfolio renewable energy companies representing c.4GW/$5b of assets to date. More recently he was a leading figure in the $600 million investment in the Terra Solar Project in the Philippines and various acquisitions across the Middle East, South Africa, Japan, South Korea and Thailand. His expertise spans M&A, financing, procurement, construction, operations, with a track record of negotiating large-scale Project Financed EPC contracts and managing assets over multiple Actis platforms .

Before joining Actis in 2015, Liam Smith was a Development Associate at an energy company, where he supported the international growth strategy in Latin America. His work focused on market analysis, business development, and the evaluation of solar, wind, hydro, gas, and geothermal assets. Prior to that, he served as a Project Engineer at an engineering firm, specializing in technical projects related to renewable energy systems.

Liam holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Auckland .
